 いまとなってその予感は確信へと変わるわけだが、Ice Choirの音楽に僕らが真摯に向き合わなければならない時は想像よりもはるかに早く訪れた。

完全に「（ロック）バンド」が、そのアイデンティティを喪失した、現代のR＆B全盛の音楽シーンにおいて、それでもなおポップとは何かを問い続けたカート・フェルドマンが奏でる渾身のスウィートソウルミュージックは、やはり、ジャケットに描かれたBOSSのカフェオレのように甘く、甘く、そしてほんの少しだけ苦い。

Let's Musicと鳴り始まり、満遍なく80年代サウンドを参照し尽くした本作だが、それらすべての瞬間はラストを飾る'The Garden of Verse'たった一曲のためにあると言っても過言ではない。

この、ひたすら美しいメロディが散文詩に乗せられて漂い続ける至福の数分間。

We could never run from you... と優しく語りながらも、しかし、その音が鳴り止んだ瞬間、我々は短い幸せな夢から醒める。

かけがえのない大切な何かと一緒に。
